About Us
We are a small, diversified family farm on 35 acres located on the Western Slope of Colorado in the North Fork Valley. We grow Certified Organic flowers and vegetables for farmers markets, restaurants, florists, wholesale, and our unique Flower CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). In the spring, we provide a wide selection of Certified Organic vegetable and herb starts as well as fun fruits and perennials just right for Western Colorado—come check out our Nursery. We are also passionate designers, and although this is not our current focus, please feel free to contact us if you have something specific in mind.
Zephyros Farm and Garden was founded 21 years ago as a small, certified organic farm run by the owners. Over the years, we have grown from a small half-acre of production to over eight acres of production and many full-time employees. We have gone from feeding a few people to growing a significant amount of local of food each year. Originally, the flowers were something we did on the side because we loved them. Following that passion has led us to becoming one of the largest producers of cut flowers on the Western Slope.
Our People
Don and Daphne
The fearless leaders of the farm. They both have put eighteen years of blood, sweat and tears into this place. Though that sounds cliché, it is the truth. Farms are epic endeavors and take strong leadership. They might not always be perfect, but their love of the plants, animals, soil and people that make up Zephyros Farm shine through each day. They both have a high sense of quality and know beauty, taste and flavor like no other after spending lifetimes experimenting, testing, and trialing thousands of different vegetables and flowers. This experience, along with that of so many others on the farm, guides this farm to provide the best for all of our amazing customers.
Diego and Sophia
These two kids’ laughter and love have imbued the farm with light. They have always loved playing with the animals and have gone from picking a few flowers or tomatoes to having a deep understanding of what a farm like this means in the world. They both still love to come to the market and help sell all our hard work. We love having them on the farm and they are some of our best employees. Sophia loves to make amazing bouquets, and Diego is not afraid of some hard field work. Their support makes the farm whole, as building soil is something done for the next generation.
Benjamin, David, Sam, Molly and Nick
This crew has been been the backbone of the farm for the last few years! Helping with everything from planning to planting, coordinating the harvesting and sales and putting it all to bed again. Farms like Zephyros do not happen without the dedication and diligent work of caring people, and that is what this crew brings to the table each day! David and trusty sidekick Ryder are found keeping an eye on everything and always working on a playlist of soul music for his next set. Benjamin is found as much as possible getting political on a tractor. If not, he is tending to his sheep who grace the farm with their cuteness and manure, or out cutting hay. Sam, with his quiet fortitude makes sure the seeds get in the ground and receive the water they need among so much more. Nick brings his love of the flowers, lack of fear of making a big bouquet, and pocket full of classic rock to the farm. Molly after many years of dedication to sustainable agriculture on and off the farm has locked and loaded here to see the markets into fruition as well as all the seeds in the greenhouse. This crew does it all, laughter and love are put into all the products you get from Zephyros because of these awesome humans!
So Many Others…
There are so many other people without whom this farm could not do all that it does. There are not enough gigabytes to thank all the people we are proud to call friends, who have graced the farm over the years. Each one has left a little of themselves behind, but some keep coming back year after year. A huge thanks goes out to Rachel, Daniel, Zuly, Hilary, Pam, Monica, Chelsea, Ana, Johnny, John, Alissa, Shannon, Lauren, Sammy, Kiki, Autumn, Karen and all the other flower den ladies, market mavens, and weeding warriors who make our job so fun. It would not happen without all of you, and you know who you are. Hundreds of different hands have touched this place over the years and it shows!
